Inside a L.E.A.P. Course: What You’ll Learn Each Week

When it comes to mastering English communication, consistency and structure are key. The L.E.A.P. (Learn, Evolve, Adapt, & Placed) Program is designed to ensure that every learner can steadily progress through each level while acquiring essential language skills. A big part of what makes L.E.A.P. so effective is its weekly breakdown of lessons, giving students a clear understanding of what they will learn at each stage of the program.

In this article, we’ll take a look inside a L.E.A.P. course and show you exactly what you can expect to learn each week. Whether you're a beginner just starting your journey or an advanced learner refining your language skills, the program’s structure helps you gain fluency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW).

Week 1–2: Laying the Foundations

The first two weeks are all about setting the groundwork. You’ll get an introduction to essential English grammar, sentence structures, and basic vocabulary, which will help you build a solid foundation for future learning.

What You’ll Learn:

  • A1 (Beginner) Level: In the initial weeks, you'll learn basic greetings, introductions, and common phrases for everyday situations. You’ll practice constructing simple sentences and using the present tense.

  • Focus Areas: Basic sentence structures, introduction to verbs and adjectives, forming questions, and using vocabulary for simple conversations.

  • Learning Format: Lessons will include short reading passages, audio content for listening practice, and quizzes to reinforce new vocabulary and grammar.

By the end of week 2, you’ll feel confident in introducing yourself and holding basic conversations in English.

Week 3–4: Expanding Vocabulary and Grammar

As you move into weeks 3 and 4, the L.E.A.P. program starts building on the foundation by expanding your vocabulary and grammar. This is where you’ll begin constructing more complex sentences and improving your speaking and writing abilities.

What You’ll Learn:

  • A2 (Elementary) Level: At this stage, you’ll learn to describe everyday activities, tell simple stories, and ask and answer more detailed questions.

  • Focus Areas: Introduction to different tenses (past, future), the use of pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs. You’ll also be introduced to common phrasal verbs and prepositions.

  • Learning Format: You’ll engage with audio exercises that help improve listening comprehension and vocabulary recall. You'll also write short paragraphs and practice speaking by recording your responses to prompts.

By the end of week 4, you’ll be able to discuss your daily routine and simple events, increasing your confidence in spoken and written English.

Week 5–6: Developing Fluency and Sentence Complexity

In weeks 5 and 6, you will start to work on more complex structures, making your conversations smoother and more natural. This is also where you’ll begin practicing more advanced vocabulary for various topics like work, travel, and personal interests.

What You’ll Learn:

  • B1 (Intermediate) Level: You’ll learn how to describe experiences, explain reasons, and express your opinions on different topics. You’ll practice using modals, conditionals, and more complex sentence structures.

  • Focus Areas: Use of past continuous and present perfect tenses, conjunctions to combine sentences, and a greater range of vocabulary for different contexts.

  • Learning Format: You will listen to audio clips that feature longer conversations and more intricate language. Writing tasks will involve short essays or paragraphs where you explain ideas clearly. Speaking tasks will require you to practice expressing opinions on various subjects.

By the end of week 6, you’ll be more comfortable talking about past events, making plans, and expressing preferences in more natural ways.

Week 7–8: Fine-Tuning Communication Skills

Weeks 7 and 8 are about refining your communication skills. You’ll focus on delivering more detailed responses, practicing your argumentation, and expanding your ability to engage in discussions about a variety of topics, both familiar and unfamiliar.

What You’ll Learn:

  • B2 (Upper-Intermediate) Level: At this stage, you'll learn how to give detailed opinions, explain causes and effects, and make suggestions. You’ll also begin practicing more sophisticated writing styles and work on your ability to comprehend different English accents.

  • Focus Areas: Complex sentence structures, the use of conditional sentences, indirect speech, and academic vocabulary. You’ll also dive deeper into listening comprehension with longer audio passages.

  • Learning Format: More challenging writing exercises will ask you to express detailed ideas. Speaking tasks will involve recording longer responses to prompts, simulating debates, or answering opinion-based questions.

By the end of week 8, you will be able to express yourself fluently on a wide range of topics, using appropriate grammar and a broader vocabulary.

Week 9–10: Preparing for Real-World Communication

As you move into weeks 9 and 10, you’ll refine your skills further to ensure you're ready for real-world communication. These weeks focus on polishing all four language skills and ensuring you can handle complex conversations and writing assignments in a professional or academic setting.

What You’ll Learn:

  • C1 (Advanced) Level: At this stage, you’ll perfect your ability to express complex ideas, make in-depth arguments, and understand detailed information in conversations and texts.

  • Focus Areas: Advanced grammar and vocabulary, mastery of writing techniques (e.g., formal and informal styles), and listening comprehension of native-level English.

  • Learning Format: Lessons will include extensive reading exercises, including articles and essays. You will work on professional writing tasks, like composing emails, reports, and reviews. Speaking exercises will involve role-playing activities and simulated presentations.

By the end of week 10, you’ll be fully prepared to engage in advanced conversations and produce polished, professional written content.
